The Territory
In the south of Piedmont there is an amphitheatre of hills which rear
up from the Maritime Alps and then slope gently down towards Alba,
the river Tanaro and a small tract of more fertile flat land. On the
other side of the river the hills rise again revealing softly sloping
land which undulates and then develops into rugged, wild peaks.
Above the hills the fickle sky daily changes from clear blue to storm
clouds and brings warm sunsets and frosty winter mornings to the green
of the meadows and trees.
This is a beautiful part of Piedmont to behold, the Langhe and the
Roero: a prodigious Land of Precious Bounty: the renowned white truffle,
prestigious wines, local cuisine, Murazzano cheese, Tonda Gentile
hazelnuts.
The people born in these parts know that, besides the charm, the pleasing,
precious scents this land offers, there is here a substratum of sensations,
intuition and awareness which are worth sharing and appreciating.
Domenica Bertolusso and Beppe Montanaro heeded these signs from the
beginning: in 1975 they set up Tartuflanghe in Piobesi, a small village
in the Roero, a few kilometres from the town of Alba.(Continue)
